Name: Connor Tebb
Position: Project Engineer
Joined Atmos: 2018What is your day to day role?

As a Project Engineer, I am responsible for multiple projects simultaneously, of which each can have one or more of the following happening at one time: configuring a system, testing a configuration, tuning a system and the occasional piece of documentation to accompany it.

Since joining how has your career developed?

I have been handed projects at their conception, of which I then have to orchestrate and see them to completion. These projects have been around the world and have helped me to develop many of the crucial skills necessary within engineering, including but not limited to: customer-facing ability, technical knowledge, and organizing and progressing projects on a set time-scale.

What advice would you give to someone starting their engineering career?

Your discipline won’t define you. It may make certain roles easier to get into, but you should still apply for a job role that is not necessarily targeted at your area of expertise. You might be pleasantly surprised what could come out of it.

What’s the best part of working at Atmos?

The feeling of being part of a family. Atmos is considerably smaller than many engineering companies on a personnel level, but this means closer working relationships with each individual. Getting to know everyone I work with and being comfortable to approach anyone makes for a much more enjoyable working environment.

Name: Dean Golba
Position: Head of Aviation
Time at Atmos: 2009

What is your day to day role?

It’s always varied, quite often you can be dealing with customer inquiries. We’ll work on developing solutions with customers. In the aviation industry, the approach is often bespoke. We’re often exploring variations of the product as well, looking at complementary services such as Atmos Aviation Care, for example. Quite often we get customers asking us about challenges. As part of our approach, we listen to our customers, especially when we’re conducting trials. We’ll ask them about what keeps them awake at night, what their pain points are. We’ll then listen and bring those back to the table here.

Since joining how has your career developed?

I was in the fortunate position of being given the opportunity to develop our aviation offerings. I was given a lot of freedom and versatility to go out and open that market further. We had an excellent reputation for our software, our project delivery and know-how, but the hardware side was something new for Atmos and it was good to develop my knowledge of that side of the business, especially in certifications.

What advice would you give to someone starting their engineering career?

If you were to join Atmos the opportunities in this company are fantastic. It’s a great company to work for and if you apply yourself in the early days, you really do have a world of opportunity at your feet.

What’s the best part of working at Atmos?

I love the freedom to make decisions, to innovate and get things done for the customer. The versatility is also key. I’ve got the opportunity to see the world. Who doesn’t like traveling, seeing new cultures, meeting new people?
