The first week of January, President Trump’s administration presented his infrastructure plan for 2018. This plan lists the top legislative priorities: building roads, bridges and highways.
The American Petroleum Institute (API), the largest oil and gas lobbying group, issued a reminder to lawmakers. API´s president and chief executive, Jack Gerard, stated that API members want little in terms of money, “We’re trying to remind people: Keep us part of the broader infrastructure plan”, “We´re not looking for a government program, we’re not looking for funding”, he said.
API aims to change the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), which oversees review proposals to build liquefied natural gas terminals and interstate natural gas pipelines. API wants faster permitting for pipelines and other projects. “We’re all for the highway bills. We’re all for bridges and roads,” said Jack Gerard, asserting his message: Pipelines count as infrastructure, too.
