High-frequency monitoring and intelligent alerts provide deeper insight into pipeline behavior and faster response to events
Atmos International (Atmos) has launched Atmos Insight, a new monitoring platform designed to give water utilities continuous visibility of pipeline conditions and support earlier leak detection.
Developed initially for the water industry, Atmos Insight addresses the growing need for more detailed, continuous monitoring across water networks. The platform will be expanded in the future to support applications in other pipeline industries.
Atmos Insight combines high-frequency transient pressure monitoring, flow measurement and intelligent alerting in a single platform. It enables operators to detect abnormal events, understand pipeline behavior in greater detail and respond more effectively.
“Water utilities are under increasing pressure to reduce leakage, pollution incidents and improve water and wastewater network performance,” said Martin Duff, Business Development Director for water at Atmos. “Atmos Insight gives operators clear, continuous operational insight of their pipelines, helping them detect issues earlier and make more informed decisions.”
Traditional monitoring systems often rely on averaged data, which can miss short-lived pressure events. Atmos Insight captures pressure and acoustic data at up to 480 Hz, allowing utilities to identify rapid pressure changes linked to bursts, leaks and other transient conditions.
“High-resolution data changes how operators understand their networks,” said Phil Edwards, Technical Director at Atmos International. “By capturing transient events that would otherwise be missed, Atmos Insight provides the level of detail needed to diagnose issues accurately and respond with confidence.”
The platform benefits from the use of Atmos’ water hardware range (see Figure 1) and includes options for processing data at the Edge, reducing noise and prioritizing meaningful events. Operators receive clear alerts and can access pressure, flow and event data through a single online dashboard, simplifying investigation and decision making.

Atmos Insight is designed for flexible deployment across water networks, including remote or hard-to-access locations. With battery-powered operation and cellular or radio connectivity, the system provides continuous monitoring without reliance on permanent infrastructure.
“In the field, having access to clear, reliable data makes a real difference,” said Oliver Port, Senior Project Engineer at Atmos International. “Atmos Insight helps us quickly identify what is happening on the pipeline and gives utilities the confidence to act on that information.”
By capturing data continuously, including during low demand periods, Atmos Insight helps utilities build a clearer picture of how their networks behave over time. This supports improved operational performance, reduced water loss and more informed asset management.
The launch of Atmos Insight reflects Atmos International’s continued investment in digital solutions, supporting water utilities today while creating a platform that can be extended across other industries in the future.
Atmos Insight is now available to water utilities globally.
