The US Department of Transportation's (DOT) Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) announced that they are seeking nominations for personnel to its gas and liquid pipeline advisory committees, from both the oil and gas industry and the federal government.
There are two committee’s that will review PHMSA’s gas or liquid pipeline regulatory initiatives to determine if they are feasible, cost-effective, reasonable, and practical to implement. Each committee will have 15 members, with equal representation from the government, industry, and the public. These members will ideally have experience of executive-level leadership, and must have experience in relevant safety regulations, or be technically knowledgable in an applicable field of engineering.
The gas advisory committee (GPAC), also known as the technical pipeline safety standards committee, has one federal government vacancy and one industry vacancy. The liquid pipeline advisory committee (LPAC), also known as the technical hazardous liquid pipeline safety standards committee, has one federal government vacancy and three industry vacancies.
Individuals wishing to apply for the roles can self-nominate and/or nominate multiple qualified professionals before the 5 July 2017 via the federal register (more information can be found HERE).
