Published Rule for Hazardous Liquid Lines and Leak Detection

The announcement by the US Department of Transportation’s Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) will see leak detection extended beyond high consequence areas (HCA) as of July 1st, 2020. The move will see thousands of miles of hazardous liquid pipelines through the US covered. In addition, areas that are exposed to extreme weather conditions and natural disasters will be scrutinized further. Rural gathering lines are not included as part of the widened regulations.

Career insights from Atmos employees

Roles in engineering, computing and software development are extremely varied and offer a wealth of opportunity for those looking to develop their careers. We’ve asked a number of colleagues to share their insights on their career choice.

Raising awareness of careers in pipeline technology

This week a team of Atmos colleagues headed to the University of Salford to attend one of its career fairs. Focussing on engineering and computing, the event is an opportunity for students to learn more about careers in each sector as well as meet potential employers.

Remembering the start of my journey

Last month I attended the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Control Systems Centre at the University of Manchester. It was good to reflect on how far I have come since finishing my Ph.D. at UMIST.

Atmos Colleagues' Three Peak Challenge

Atmos International (Atmos) colleagues like a challenge. So when the opportunity of tackling all three of mainland Britain’s highest peaks came up, they went for it.
